TRAINING WITH ALIC:
As
a licensed liquor establishment owner, your employees can be one of your
biggest assets or one of your biggest detriments. Arizona State Law states
“acts or omissions of an employee of a licensee which violate any
provision of Title IV (liquor law) or any rules adopted pursuant thereto,
shall be deemed to be acts or omissions of the licensee”. In other words,
you as the owner of a liquor establishment are responsible for any
violations committed by your employees. Additionally, in Arizona we have
what’s called the “Dram Shop Law”. The “Dram Shop Law” provides that if
you sell spirituous liquor to a person who is obviously intoxicated or a
minor, and the consumption of the spirituous liquor is the proximate cause
of an accident, injury or death, the licensee is liable. Both of these
potentially devastating situations are almost totally in the hands of your
employees. Certified liquor law training for your employees is not
something that would just be nice to have, in today’s liquor industry it’s
almost essential.
Ignorance by one or more of your employees is not an excuse, you are still
responsible for what they do in either of the situations listed above.
Restaurants, bars, night clubs, grocery stores and liquor stores need to
have employees that are well informed. In short, training can be one of
the best preventative maintenance assets available to you as a licensee.
ALIC provides one of the finest, most comprehensive, liquor law
training classes available. We’ve trained thousands of owners, managers
